Through the work of the Titusville Marker Committee, in collaboration with
Titusville Developement Corporation Inc., historic markers have been awarded to significant sites in
Titusville by the Jefferson County Historical Commission and the Alabama Historical Commission.

Alabama in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s allowed to expand operations only after an
extended court battle and ruling by the Alabama Public Service Commission. (Unoccupied)
SUPERIOR CLEANERS: MARKER DONATED BY SOUTH TITUSVILLE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
Superior Cleaners: A commercial structure built to house a dry-cleaning business by Alexander Hamilton Love, a Black man who spent his life in the clothing business, starting as a presser, advancing to manager, and finally owner. Dr. Eddie Woods, Dental Office; Photo Studio: Original structure since 1947.

Green Liberty Baptist Church: Hosted youth chapter of the NAACP until disbanded in the mid-fifties; also, it was a youth training site for 1960s children's crusade. Site of local legend Ma Yet's daycare; designed by Wallace Rayfield and built in the 1920s,. One of the oldest intact structures in Titusville.

OUR LADY OF FATIMA CATHOLIC CHURCH/SCHOOL COMPLEX ACHC MARKERS AWARDED: DONATED BY CHURCH AND CITIZENS OF THE COMMUNITY
Our Lady of Fatima: First Catholic Church in Birmingham established to serve the African American community, and (Immaculata) first Catholic High School for Blacks.
CENTER STREET SCHOOL: MARKER DONATED BY SOUTH TITUSVILLE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
Center Street School: Equalization School built in the 1950s to thwart desegregation.
BOWMAN'S GROCETERIA/BOWMAN'S HOUSE
Bowman's Groceteria/Bowman House: Property of early businessman Joseph H. Bowman, Jr. including family home and neighborhood grocery.

St. Paul Lutheran Church: Pastored by Rev. Joseph Elwanger a strategist with M.L. King, Jr., a vocal white clergyman of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement.
